
On September 13-15, 2006, the UEFA inspectors visited Ukraine. The purpose of their visit was familiarization with the country and its infrastructure for hosting 2012 European Football Championship.
The program of their visit included the inspection of the existing stadiums and areas allocated for construction of new stadiums, training centers, hotels, and all other necessary facilities for VIPs and football supporters. In the course of the inspectors' visit, the meeting of the UEFA representatives with Viktor Yushchenko, the President of Ukraine, Alexander Moroz, the Speaker, Mykola Azarov, the First Vice Prime Minister, Dmytro Tabachnyk, the Vice Prime Minister, Yuriy Pavlenko, Family, Youth and Sports Minister was held.
During this visit the UEFA representatives also inspected Boryspil State International Airport. From UEFA side the following were present at Boryspil Airport presentation: Harry Been, UEFA Member of National Team Competition, Giorgio Marchetti, UEFA Professional Football Director, Salzer Mikael, UEFA Head of National Team Competition, Jung Christoph, UEFA Competition Manager, Marion-Nicole Breuer, UEFA Competition Coordinator and Maik Kiss, Head of UEFA Events. The guests were accompanied by Grygoriy Surkis, the President of FFU and UEFA Executive Committee co-opted member, Ivan Fedorenko, Head of Euro-2012 Executive Committee, Dirk Smits Van Oyen, Director of Promarketing Company, Yuriy Barbash and Valentyna Nadonenko, Managers of Euro-2012 Executive Committee.
At Boryspil Airport the guests were greeted by Petro Lypovenko, First Deputy Director, Sergiy Murashkin, Chief of Planning and Coordination Flight Center and Vasyl Goncharov, Acting Deputy Director on Strategic Development, Construction and Social Matters.
The presentation was made by Sergiy Murashkin who informed the UEFA inspectors of terminal complex designing completion and construction launch in 2007 financed by JBIC .
During this presentation perspectives for development and technical facilities for servicing of team arrival and departure, VIP passengers and football supporters while 2012 European Football Championship were specified. Sergiy Murashkin emphasized that Boryspil Airport has serviced such mass events as the visit of the Pope Ioann Paul II, the forum of European Reconstruction and Development Bank, Eurovision 2005, annual khasidian pilgrimage .
During the meeting the airport proved its ability to provide guests and football supporters with high-level servicing while hosting 2012 European Football Championship.
