Recapitulation of the meeting with UEFA

Poland and Ukraine are to build the organizational structure of the championships and start works on legislative changes protecting UEFA property rights. Those are the main lines of the hosts’ activities specified by UEFA during the two-day meeting in Nyon. The next meeting with UEFA is planned for early September 2007.

By the end of July the co-organizers of EURO 2012 – Poland and Ukraine – are supposed to name several experts to be UEFA partners on the issues related to the tournament.

- By the end of July we must name the experts who will serve as UEFA partners on such issues as security and safety, construction of airports and stadiums, expansion of the road network, railway connections and training centers for participants. Experts in individual fields will become a part of the organizing staff and will be available to UEFA – said Michał Listkiewicz, the President of the Polish Football Association .

The Monday meeting of the representatives of the organizing staffs for EURO 2012 in Poland and Ukraine with representatives of UEFA lasted over five hours. Participants of the meeting included: Michel Platini, the UEFA President, David Taylor, the UEFA Secretary General and directors of all departments concerned with EURO 2012, as well as Michał Listkiewicz, the President of the Polish Football Association (PZPN), Hrihorij Surkis, the FFU President, Maciej Grześkowiak, the Head of the Polish Staff, Ivan Fedorenko, the Head of the Ukrainian Staff, Adam Olkowicz, responsible in PZPN for EURO 2012, Oleksandr Bandurko, the FFU Deputy President and Adrianna Bronikowska, a lawyer.

The PZPN President informed that during the meeting Polish delegation officially turned to UEFA with a request to provide Chorzów and Krakow with an opportunity to host matches of EURO 2012 championships.

- Our initiative met with favorable reception, although no decision has been made yet. Besides UEFA accepted the proposal from Wrocław, which considers refurbishment of the Olympic Stadium or construction of a new facility. Either decision of Wrocław will be approved by federation governing bodies – Listkiewicz stated.

The meeting in Nyon was the first official contact of Polish and Ukrainian side with UEFA representatives since the moment when UEFA announced the decision on selection of the EURO 2012 host.

During the meeting Listkiewicz reported on what Poland managed to do in the last two months, he talked about ongoing legislative works, about changes in legal provisions which will improve efficiency of the preparations for the tournament. He assured Platini that Poland would not run short of money for the necessary investments. He also stressed that the works in Poland are monitored personally by the prime minister; the situation in Ukraine is similar.

At the meeting, UEFA presented to everyone present the tournament logo, which will be binding until June 2008. The word "UEFA" is on top, while words "Polska and Ukraina" are below.

This Friday, on 22nd June, a meeting will be held in Warsaw with representatives of local organizing committees, who will be informed about arrangements agreed upon in Nyon.
