Premier League matches of the fourth round of national competition took place from 3-5 August. FC Dnipro tops the tournament fixture with 12 points after its successive wins. This time Oleh Protasov’s team edged out the current champion Dynamo Kyiv in a return match. Dnipropetrovsk players left FC Shakhtar behind with a two-point distance; the latter battled out a hard victory on Sunday in Uzhgorod. Meanwhile, FC Kryvbas and FC Naftovyk-Ukrnafta still didn’t gain a point.
Successful start
Dnipro players called on Kyiv as leaders of the current season without tasting a loss so far. Whereas Dynamo players made quite a luckless start with no win in the championship. The Sunday match confirmed the balance set between the teams. Oleh Protasov’s guys, having lost one goal on the 8th minute (Rebrov scored), didn’t feel at sea, and started pressing their way forward. They impressed with a skillful game, quick switching from defense to attacking and variety of tactical combinations. As a result, Serhiy Samodin scored twice and Andriy Vorobey sealed the victory.
Brandao the rescuer
Vice-champion of the country had an uneasy trip to Uzhgorod. Ambitious FC Zakarpattya caused quite enough bothering to Shakhtar Donetsk. Zakarpattya goalkeeper Dmytro Babenko made a heroic deed considering that Donetsk players provided rampant attacks. However, his efforts weren’t sufficient to avert the shot of Brandao.
Renaissance of Kosyrin
Oleksandr Kosyrin made the fans of Metalurh Donetsk rejoice again. After his hat-trick in the first round against Arsenal ex-forward of Ukraine’s national-team scored twice on Friday.
